WEEKEND LODGING
For this assignment, we were required to conduct site analysis of the physical context both at a macro & micro level of the overall site before choosing a micro site for the weekend lodging in a group of 60. On our own, we had to design a Weekend Lodging at KL Forest Eco Park. Weekend Lodging denotes ‘A place where one escapes for relaxation, recreation and vacation for a short period of time.’ This Weekend Lodging must function as habitable architectural spaces to enable the activity associated with living, dining, showering, cooking, storage and such within the built up space of maximum 150 m2 . The relationship between the design and the context is also important in making the Weekend Lodging unique to its landscape and activity.
Concept: Synchronicity in Nature
Synchronicity in nature happens when one aligns with the flow of nature rather than insisting the nature to flow their way. Natural wonders are eternal and fascinating. To sync with nature, we have to LIVE in sync with nature by living with complete AWARENESS of each moment in nature (mind, body, and soul). This weekend lodging is ensouled in such way that the presence of nature is within the lodge and incarnates human spirit into the lodge. The lodge allows users to spend more time with nature by observing and connecting with nature, bringing inner selves into harmony with the building.
