BUILDING SCIENCE I

The module is an introduction to the factors that affect the thermal performance of buildings. Its aim is to facilitate us to create acceptable designs which are sustainable (minimizing the use of mechanical cooling systems) and comfortable. The emphasis is on creating acceptable indoor thermal conditions thus minimizing the use of space heating and cooling. Students will also be introduced to MS1525, which provides guidelines to creating a more sustainable design in Malaysia.

RESEARCH PAPER

Analysis and extraction of important ideas from the topic: Climate responsive Architecture, are done in this project. The first part of the essay will be a review of the related text for the chosen theme. It is to instill our intentional learning ability by exploring and researching themes in sustainability issues in architecture to gain in depth knowledge related to this module. The selected building to be analyzed is PAM Centre, bangsar, with a research question: Efficiency Of Egg-Crate Facade As A Shading Device In A Sustainable Building In Kuala Lumpur.
