VISITOR INTERPRETIVE CENTRE
PROJECT 2: Genius Loci and Concept Development

Society, culture, history, memory and the landscape of a particular place echoes the meaning of that ‘place’, or its ‘genius loci’. These qualities will inform the architectural concept and generators for this project. This project calls for an architectural response toward the sense of place with a strong engagement and relationship to the site and programmatic requirements.

PROJECT 3: Visitor Interpretive Centre

This project calls for an architectural response to design a visitor interpretive centre emphasising a strong engagement and relationship to the site, spatial experiences and programmatic requirements.
Concept: Bonhomie
A quiet and emotional village, slowly fading away from its previously strong and cultural community, with only the old folks left staying in the village. The lepers came from different places with different sad stories, but are bound by the same fate and slowly formed a close-knit community by helping each other, all for the pursue of happiness. The Bonhomie visitor interpretive centre exposes the visitors to different definitions of happiness felt by the lepers despite the disease and the discrimination by the society.

Main Functions:
1. To reminisce the olden days experienced by the lepers’ community.
2. To form a close-knit community between the visitors and the locals.
3. Allow the visitors to experience the act of happiness.
